As the GOP Establishment dithers over really digging into the IRS scandal (who cares about the Tea Partiers, anyway?) Cruz is putting the kibosh on the tactics of Lois Lerner and her bosses, who have yet to be held accountable for their egregious breach of the public's trust.

Given that the only apparatchik to "suffer" any consequences for Obama's wrongdoing has been Lerner – if you consider retirement with a six-figure pension and other Big Gov perks to be "suffering" a punishment – new law CRIMINALIZING federal tax agency abuses of government power and violations of taxpayer privacy are definitely necessary!

If these bills don't move forward, don't expect the IRS corruption to magically END just because Obama doesn't personally have another popularity contest to win and Lerner has departed to a generous retirement provided by your taxpayer dollars.

During her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, Obama's Eric Holder replacement pick Loretta Lynch was singing the same tune as Holder – she REFUSED to identify limits of Executive power, excusing the illegal targeting by the IRS, endorsing Executive amnesty and accepting Obama's flagrant disregard for the Constitution.

Whether it is Loretta Lynch or the next Obama hand-pick, the replacement for held-in-contempt Holder in the Obama administration will be an apparatchik that puts POWER before the PEOPLE they were elected to serve… with two more years to go under the tyrannical Obama!

Fortunately, Cruz is TAKING ACTION to protect the First Amendment free speech rights of every single American from an out-of-control, hyper-politicized and TOO POWERFUL Internal Revenue Service.

"In May 2013 President Obama declared the IRS's illegal targeting of conservative groups 'intolerable and inexcusable,' yet to this date no one has been held accountable for it," Sen. Cruz said as he announced his intentions to file these two new free speech bills.

"The IRS has no business meddling with the First Amendment rights of Americans. Rather than further stifling free speech, the IRS and the Department of Justice should provide the American people with all the facts surrounding the IRS's targeting of certain organizations based on their political activity."

Cruz's first free speech bill would make unlawful IRS employees intentionally targeting individuals or groups based on their political views or policy statements held, expressed, or published by that organization. It would STOP a repeat of the powerful agency's nonprofit "rogue office" from slow-walking (or more like HALTING) applications by Tea Partiers and other conservative groups to deny them tax-exempt status – critical for grassroots efforts! – as was done during the 2012 presidential race. The founder of one targeted group even saw a slew of OTHER federal agencies cracking down on her family-owned private business!

The second bill would refocus the IRS on taxation rather than "interpretation" of political activities by amending the tax code to use the bipartisan, independent Federal Election Commission's (FEC) definitions to determine whether an organization is engaging in political activity.

In February 2014, Cruz introduced similar measures as amendments in the Senate Judiciary Committee only to have the Democrats UNANIMOUSLY OPPOSE such free speech protections that would have benefitted EVERYONE no matter which Party was in control of Congress, the Oval Office OR overseeing YOUR TAX RETURNS… AND your healthcare coverage compliance!
